After having bad experiences with hoka before because of the too narrow toe box ( Carbon X stepping on the sidewall of the foam) and the arch problem ( Bondi 6 wide) I ordered the Speedgoat 5. I was looking for a nice cushioned allrounder for daily training and racing a trail half in spring and my first ultra in fall.
For Speedgoat 5 owners. I'be read mixed reviews about the speedgoat 5. Some of them give the shoe a really good report and others not so much. However, all of them coincide on saying that the upper is a bit stretchy. For the bad reviews that is a deal breaker since they cannot get a good lockdown, and for the good reviews that is not an issue
The Hoka Speedgoat 5 is one of the best running shoes I have ever worn. It has improved traction, lighter weight, more comfortable fit and a more responsive midsole. One really has to search long and hard to find something wrong with the Speedgoats.

Connor F. The HOKA Speedgoat 5 is a nice update to previous models. The shoe is still very reliable and capable, but it is now lighter and a bit more responsive. I was able to use the Speedgoat 5 on almost all of my runs, and the shoe felt great whether tackling technical trails or going for a few hours on smooth paths.
